Everyday money

This section handles everyday money questions: discounts, final prices and whether an offer is as good as it looks.

The calculations are for reference and stay away from banking products — no loans, rates or investment projections here.

What these calculators cover

  • Sale price and the amount saved.
  • Percentage off from the original and final price.
  • Stacked discounts, which never simply add up.

Reading an offer

Shops often list discounts one after another: “20% off plus another 10%”. The second cut applies to the reduced price, so the total is smaller than the sum — quicker to verify with a calculator than in your head at the shelf.

Frequently asked questions

Is sales tax included?

No, the calculation works from the item price.

Can I find the price before a discount?

Yes, the reverse mode derives the original price from the final price and the percentage.

Do two discounts add up?

No: 20% and 10% come to 28%, not 30%.
