401(k) Calculator 2026
Estimate employee contributions, employer matching, and account growth under constant assumptions.
- Projected balance before withdrawal tax, $
- 404,763.17
- Annual employee contribution, $
- 8,000
- Annual employer match, $
- 2,400
- 2026 employee limit, $
- 24,500
How the calculation works
Employee deferrals are capped by the 2026 limit and pay. Match = min(deferral, eligible pay × match cap) × match rate. Growth uses monthly contributions.
Inputs
- Age at the end of 2026
- Annual eligible salary, $
- Desired employee deferral, %
- Employer match per contributed dollar, %
- Match up to this share of pay, %
- Current balance, $
- Projection years
- Effective annual return, %
Calculation details
Employee limit: $24,500; catch-up: $8,000 from age 50 or $11,250 at ages 60–63. Matching compensation is capped at $360,000. The plan must permit the applicable contributions.
The projection holds current contributions and pay constant; future limits and age-band changes are not forecast. Withdrawal taxes, vesting, fees, and mandatory Roth catch-up treatment are not modeled.
