Distance Between Cities
Find two cities and calculate their great-circle distance in kilometers and miles.
How the calculation works
The haversine formula uses a sphere with mean Earth radius 6,371.0088 km.
Inputs
- First selected city latitude
- First selected city longitude
- Second selected city latitude
- Second selected city longitude
Calculation details
Enter a city name and select a search result for each endpoint. GeoNames includes cities with over 15,000 residents and administrative capitals.
The result is the shortest distance on a spherical Earth between city reference points. It is not a driving distance or a precise geodetic survey.
Open the Google Maps link for driving directions. City names may appear in their local language; search also recognizes available alternative names.
