Tile Calculator
Calculate tiles and boxes from the surface area and tile dimensions, with an allowance for cuts and breakage.
- Boxes
- 15
- Required tiles
- 147
- Purchased tiles
- 150
- Purchased area
- 13.5 m²
How the calculation works
Tile area = length × width/10,000 for centimeter dimensions. Tiles = surface area/tile area × (1 + waste/100), rounded up.
Inputs
- Surface area, m²
- Tile length, cm
- Tile width, cm
- Tiles per box
- Waste, %
Calculation details
For 12 m² with 30 × 30 cm tiles, 134 tiles are needed before waste. The purchase is rounded up to whole boxes.
This area estimate does not design a layout. Grout joints are not subtracted, making the estimate slightly conservative. Set an allowance appropriate for diagonal layouts or complex cuts.
