How the calculation works

Usage, kg/m² ≈ (A + B)/(A × B) × C × D × K. A and B are tile sides, C is joint depth, D is joint width in mm, and K is the product factor.

Calculation details

Take factor K from your grout manufacturer's formula. The example of 1.6 applies to some cementitious products and is not universal.

This approximates rectangular tiles with uniform joints. Shaped edges, mosaics, material left in containers, and application losses affect actual usage.
