Paint Calculator
Estimate paint volume and can count for walls or ceilings using surface area, number of coats, coverage, and waste allowance.
- Paint including waste
- 8.8 L
- Cans
- 4
- Purchased volume
- 10 L
How the calculation works
Liters = area × coats/coverage × (1 + waste/100). Can count = liters/can size, rounded up.
Inputs
- Paintable area, m²
- Coats
- Coverage, m²/L
- Can size, L
- Waste, %
Calculation details
Enter net paintable area after subtracting unpainted openings. Painting 40 m² with two coats at 10 m²/L uses 8 L before waste.
Use label coverage for your surface. Porous substrates and covering dark colors with lighter paint can increase consumption.
